Welcome To The March/April 2010 Issue

Welcome To The March/April 2010 Issue

Not counting skin cancers, colorectal cancer is the fourth most common cancer in men and women in the United States. March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, and Moffitt Cancer Center health care professionals discuss ways to reduce your risk of developing this disease.

Moffitt will recognize National Minority Cancer Awareness Week, April 19-23 this year, by presenting a series of programs designed to reach out to minority and higher-risk communities with education and resources to help prevent cancer.

Sincerely,
The Moffitt Cancer Center Team

Moffitt Patient/Family Testimonial

Moffitt Patient/Family Testimonial

Tonya Brooks had the fight of her life when she battled a rare neuroendocrine tumor of the pancreas. Now cancer-free, Brooks says she wanted to do more than just survive, and she joined Moffitt’s Total Cancer Care™ protocol to give back to others.

“I am a blessed person, and I don’t want anyone else to have to go through what I had to,” says the 45-year-old mother of two. Brooks donates medical data and tissue to help researchers use the information to learn more about the issues related to cancer and treatment through the Total Cancer Care™ project.
